Weekend Report Phew! With so many people taking part in so many different events…it’s hard to know where to start. So…let’s do it in order. 1st out of the traps was Brian Darling who had a leisurely run with his son Owen in the Ardgillan Parkrun. Simultaneously ….Warren Donnelly had another fantastic run in the Malahide Parkrun. Warren created a new Parkrun club record for the 5k running 17.49! Sunday then, Marieanne Campbell headed west to the Limerick Half Marathon and recorded a very credible time of 1hr 54mins. On Sunday afternoon we had a large squad headed to the Boyne 10k in Drogheda. It turned out to be very fruitful for the Ladies Team who won the 1st ever club Team prize by taking 3rd place behind the well established clubs of Drogheda & District and North East Runners….with Anne O’Brien, Catherine Troy & Pauline Titier being the scoring ladies. There were several impressive PB’s among the Men and Women shown in the attached pic. So to the big event of the weekend…the Belfast Marathon where all three of our entrants, Paul Barclay, Patrick Flanagan & Gavin McCrory all broke 4 hours! Paul Barclay overcame a recent bad tummy bug to run a strong 3 hours 40 mins. Patrick was next in…smashing his PB running 3hours 47mins. Birthday boy Gavin McCrory, running his 1st marathon, did great to run 3 hours 57 mins. This synopsis of the weekend events does not properly convey the exhileration felt of the smiling faces, the sweaty brows , the downing of pints at the gathering in the Bracken Court…and the late night embarrassing dancing girations at home nightclub (no names please!) experienced with Balbriggan AC, over a very memorable weekend!
