Weekend Review: No intro for this review because theres no way to prepare for the band I talk about in it. Dying Fetus History Repeats (EP) 2011 Genre: I have no idea what kind of music this is supposed to be I had heard stories of a band, a very... unusual band. A band that strikes fear into even the bravest rock fans soul, I heard stories of a band so twisted that Satan himself feels chills down his jagged spine at the mere mention of their name, a band with such a cold, dark, black, empty stare that they could curdle milk while it was still inside the cow and, a band so bad that they could have headlined Ozz-Fest! The band that I’m talking about is of course... Dying Fetus. But, I thought “surely they can’t be that bad, right?” wrong. The first song ‘Fade Into Obscurity’ sounds like a bass guitar being thrown into a car compactor while a grizzly bear with a sore throat is trying to sing. Honestly, who would ever consider this as music, let alone decent music? Track two, ‘Unchallenged Hate’, is actually a song you can listen to without the risk of your ears starting to bleed... for about four-and-a-half seconds. The next track, ‘Gorehog’, is exactly what it says on the tin, it genuinely sounds like a wild boar being mutilated. ‘Rohypnol’ is easily the best song on the album purely for the reason that it’s only 43 seconds long which means you only have to put up with this complete and utter garbage for less than one minute. With the mutilated boar making its second appearance on the album in this song it swiftly annihilates your ear drums along with the sound of a drum kit being tortured. The ‘vocals’ on ‘Unleashed Upon Mankind’ is what I imagine a child conceived between Gollum and Yoda would sound like when it has man-flu. ‘Twisted Truth’ starts with a surprisingly normal sounding riff but quickly goes south and made we want to destroy the computer to make it stop. The last song on the album, ‘Born In A Casket’, is just three minutes of horrific bass play being growled over by what sounds like a rabid dog. So wow, Dying Fetus; this band is a strong contender for the ‘Worst Band Ever Award’ and if you value your sanity avoid this band at all costs because, what has been heard can never be unheard.
