Weekend Weather Update There is a chance that more surface water flooding could affect areas of the county this weekend. The Met Office have warned that several heavy showers could fall on Saturday afternoon with predictions of 30-50mm of rain. It is not possible to predict the exact location of the showers. The County Council and District Council is on stand-by and will be working with the emergency services and other organisations within the county to respond to flood emergencies and support local communities that may be affected by the rainfall. People are advised to check the Met Office weather forecasts and the Environment Agency website for flood details. Also, listen to the local radio for traffic disruption information. Residents at risk of flooding are encouraged to put flood protection measures in place to protect their property. Households which rely on sandbags to help protect their property should purchase them in advance from local DIY stores and builders merchants as local authorities may not be able to respond to all sandbags requests if flooding is widespread. In such instances councils will give priority to those residents who are vulnerable, at greatest risk and are unable to help themselves. Drivers are warned to think before they drive through flood water as they risk getting stuck and may inadvertently cause flooding to nearby properties
