Weekend is here finally. Got up early for once and preparing to go for breakfast until dad rang up citing emergency at home and needed my immediate attention. Cancelled my breakfast date apologetically, rushed back, mom appeared alright luckily and resting at home now. You see, dad always does this. He cant differentiate emergency from urgency to not so urgent of course. And since Im a relaxed and laid back person and I can differentiate, Im often misunderstood by my family as cold hearted and detached. But I also believe its more because of how dad treats and loves mom. Dad spoils her rotten. Every moms complaint be it major or minor has always been taken seriously by dad. Recent years more intensified cause they both know they are in their late 70s. Other reason of course, me being the son with medical background. But there are also days really such as after work, on weekends or holidays that I wish I am not regarded as a doctor. I dont wish to be consulted by friends or family. I just dont want to do anything remotely related to work at all. Does that make me selfish and unprofessional? Or makes me HUMAN after all?
