Weekend update… The feeding tube is in and working…so there - TopicsExpress

Weekend update… The feeding tube is in and working…so there are other issues to deal with. Rick has to remain at a 45-degree angle. As long as the swallow mechanism or ‘trigger’ has not kicked in there is a possibility of ‘reflux’, but because he cannot swallow the ‘reflux’ would go directly into his lungs and cause him to get pneumonia or to basically drown in his own fluids (Aspirate). He has worked hard today on his speech therapy. They helped him bath and he got a shave. We have a male nurse tonight and he is ‘beefy’ so I will not assist in the heavier moving. He is a great nurse, and I am happy he is here to help. He has had a lot of people stop by for short term or just peek in the door if he was sleeping. He needs his rest when he can get it. I have had a good day but I found out we’ve lost his car keys. So pray I find them somewhere along the line of the transport and traversing of last Friday getting him from home to the doctor and then to the hospital. They could be anywhere in Lakeland at this point. His last visitor of the evening was a man whom God has healed completely of esophageal cancer. He is a dear and godly man who has been through a lot of what Rick is experiencing right now. Again Rick has been encouraging and speaking of God’s presence with us even when we don’t want to do what He wants us to do. They talked about the man in Matthew 21:28-31, who asks his sons to go work in the vineyard and the one readily agrees to do so, but doesn’t, and then there is the other son. He said, no, I don’t want to do that, or go there, or deal with the hard work of obedience, but he did it anyway. Are we balking at God’s commands or requests in the simplest of things? Do we capitulate and become faithful servants in spite of our discomfort and desires? Do we appear to be complying and walk away? Lord help me to listen and respond even when I don’t feel like it, or think it is too much for you to ask, too difficult, too tiring…too exacting…let me listen and obey…I PRAY!
