Weekly Announcements Annual Meeting and Potluck: This Sunday New Church Directory Now Available: on the blue carts Please Sign Up! There are opportunites open for folks to sign the coffee hour calendar and worship assistant calendars. Thank you! Per Capita These are the funds that are sent yearly to Presbytery and General Assembly to pay for administrative expenses. It is $40 per member again this year; and it would be great if you are able to pay an additional $5 to help those who might have a difficulty with this. Thank you so much! Third Sundays: Buildings and Grounds So this year we will try a new thing. Richard Lybecker is the new Elder in charge of everything Building and Grounds. An idea for this year is to have interested persons show up at Bethany on every third Saturday at 9:00 AM, have some conversation/coffee, and then engage in some type of project Richard might suggest for us to work on that day. We have things that need to be done both inside and outside the church. We need hands to do ‘em! So put it on your calendar! Jan. 18, Feb 15, March 15, April 19, May 17, June 21 (the longest day of the year!!) Super and Souper Bowl Sunday: Feb 2 Please bring items for the Spokane Food Bank “2nd Harvest” on Sunday Feb. 2 for ‘Souper Bowl of Caring’ to Sunday Worship. That is also ‘Super Bowl’ Sunday, and the annual Super Bowl party will be held at Paul and Kerri’s place. Kick off is 3:00 PM. Bring a friend! Book Group: Jan 28 For January there are two books. “The Devil in the White City” by Erik Larson and “The Orchardist” by Amanda Coplin. At Forza Coffee on 29th, 6:00pm Leadership Retreat For Deacons, Elders, and Committee Chairs will be held Saturday, February 1, in the clubhouse at Dirk’s: 19312 East Nora Lane, Spokane Valley, from 9 AM to 3 PM. We will have a potluck lunch, with ham being furnished; please bring a dish to share. (Carla will be coordinating the food.) 2014 Eastern Washington Legislative Conference: Jan 25 “Dismantling the Culture of Violence” 9am-2pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E 24th Ave. Presentations will be various social issues.
