Weekly Discussion Post- Answering the question, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" When we are interviews one of the toughest questions we get asked is, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" If you come out and say it is hard to know where you will be and what salary you will be making, an employer may get turned off. So you want to try and focus on 3 things. 1. Explain how you want to be doing a job that involves using skill A, B or C and how it is something you enjoy doing everyday. So take time to think about what they may be and build off that ability. 2. Next you want to be thinking about that ultimate goal and how you can obtain it. Look at how you can tie that into the work you are looking to do and build it off in terms of the role you are interviewing. 3. The last thing to do is provide reassurance to the employer that you plan to be working for them well into the future. Thus you would emphasize that the reason you are interested in the job, is because it is something you see yourself doing well into the future and the organization or group is one that you would fit well into to do that. So how do you prepare yourself for this question? Come check out more of our discussions and participate. The more feedback we get the more we can all get vital information and learn from others.
