Weekly Message October 26th, 2014 Fr. Thomas Someone has anonymously observed that there are three types of people: Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who ask, “What happened?” Socrates is quoted as saying, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Maybe I wouldn’t go quite that far, but God expects us to be self-aware, have a purpose in life, and not just sail randomly through life like a ship with no rudder. Perhaps it takes years to discover what our “purpose” is in life. If we are indeed made in God’s image, then God expects us to act and look like Him in all we do, say, or think. In a dangerous and precarious world God doesn’t need more people to sit idly by on the side lines. He has recruited us to “get into the game” and become varsity players, not simply cheerleaders. Our Ministry Fair last week was an opportunity to learn more about how we can make things happen. Not everyone has the same gifts, education, personality, available time or money; but no one can say that he or she has nothing to give in the service and evangelization of our fallen world. As I’m fond of saying, “Without God we cannot; and without us He will not.” ANNOUNCEMENTS HOSPITALITY HOUR Sunday is hosted by the Episcopal Church Women.
