Weekly Newsletter: I just needed to touch base with each of you about this coming weekend at TLC and some other items of interest. I do want to mention that one of the elders from the Denver West SDA Church took his life on this last Tuesday evening. We do not have all the answers to life’s difficulties and the stresses that bring about such terrible tragedies. We do know that Satan has been at work for thousands of years, bringing heartache to God’s crowning creation – the human family. We also know that God is in control and He always brings good from bad. He has the power to bring light out of darkness, love out of hate, and joy out of sadness. Philip Cordova was 57 years old, was out of work, and evidently suffered stresses that brought about this result. His wife’s name is Lorraine, and she needs our prayers at this time of great loss. Pray for Lorraine and her family. May His peace be theirs. One of the last great promises in the Bible is found in Revelation 21. John the Revelator wrote: And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4 We cannot wait for that day to come! Wanted to share some activities taking place this Sabbath and beyond at TLC. God bless each of you with a wonderful preparation day. _____________________________________ 1. THIS IS A BIG WEEKEND AT THE CHURCH: Remember that we have the 2 young people who are visiting again from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, and John Dixon will bring us some ministry in music. He is a Freshman at Oakwood College, and the young lady with him, Shurla, will possibly accompany him. They will be raising money for their missionary endeavors. We know that God will bless them as they share what they are doing. 2. PASTOR BOB WILL BRING A STORY OF AN OLD TESTAMENT PERSON WHO FOLLOWED THEIR HEART AND SAVED A KING: This character is rather obscure, but a lot like many of us: not a big name, but involved with big plans, big work, and big outcomes. God bless our church service this weekend. 3. JANE AND THE TLC SINGERS WILL PRESENT THE PRAISE MUSIC THIS SABBATH: Please make plans to be with us this weekend. David said in Psalm 122:1: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the House of the Lord.” See you there. Angel Cordova will also sing a special song entitled “One Pair of Hands”. 4. THIS IS POTLUCK LUNCH WEEKEND!! THIS IS THE THIRD SABBATH OF THE MONTH – SO GUESS WHAT THAT MEANS. You’re right – potluck lunch right after the Praise Service. This one is very special for 2 reasons: A. It is our first one to be held in the fellowship room for this fall and winter season. B. It is also special because of the following announcement. 5. WE ARE HAVING A BABY SHOWER FOR ADDELEIGH OPAL-LOUISE MAXWELL – HEIDI’S BABY DAUGHTER!! Heidi’s baby was born last week and we want to celebrate with Heidi and her family. We will have a baby shower toward the end of the potluck lunch. So come an say “hi” to the new baby, and congratulate Heidi. God bless you, Heidi, and Addeleigh. 6. THIS IS OUR SPECIAL EMPHASIS WEEK FOR THE COMMUNITY SERVICES CENTER!! If you have used clothes, paper or plastic bags, shoes, hats, jeans, slacks, suits, boots that you do not need any more, please bring them to the church and we will take them to the Community Services Center to be distributed. Thanks so much! 7. GARDENS AT COLUMBINE THIS SUNDAY MORNING!! This is a chance for us to share with residents at the assisted living center located at 5130 West Ken Caryl Avenue. We worship with the residents there for about 30 minutes with songs, scripture, and a short devotional. We meet from 10 a.m. until about 10:30 a.m. Please come and join us for a great time with people who really appreciate all that we do for them. 8. DON’T FORGET THE FALL BARBECUE AT THE BUDKE’S HOUSE!! The church family has been invited to Pam, Brad and Sara’s house NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT. WE WILL START EATING AROUND 6 OR 6:30 P.M. (I know . . . you’ve seen all kinds of times, but 6 seems to fit everybody. Soooooo . . . that means we can start showing up any time after 5, let’s say. Just bring your favorite grill food, a dish to share with 5-6 people, (it could be chips and dip, crackers and cheese, your favorite salad, a dessert – YOU JUST NAME IT!) Really hope to see you there – Saturday night, September 28. I suppose I should give it up for the time being. My clock says it just passed midnight, and I need my beauty rest! God bless each of you with such a wonderful weekend that you can hardly stand it. He loves you and so do I. Pastor Bob
