Weekly Update - 3.30.14 6 day until our 2nd Annual Spring Ride! Next Saturday, bring your family and friends for our kickoff to the 2014 outdoor season. We will be leaving from Life Time Fitness at 9:30 AM on a route that takes us out to 5 Mile Pass. It is an out-and-back course so the total distance is up to you! It is a self-supported ride so be sure to bring plenty of hydration and nutrition. There are several gas stations along the route so bring some cash to refuel if needed. Go to the Events link above to find more information about this ride. Our weekly Thursday evening rides will officially start April 10th! We will meet at Life Time Fitness and roll out at 6:00 PM sharp. These rides are also open to non-members. The new route this year will take us out to MVC once again but will turn south once there and head up Rose Canyon. Riders will cover anywhere from 15-30+ miles depending on the group you are riding with. These are group rides and are meant to build group riding skills and be fun. Looking forward to getting back out on the road with everyone!. This week, the schedule for Performance Cycle classes will remain the same. We will continue our Monday morning and Thursday evening Performance Cycle classes through April for those that are not quite ready to hit the roads yet. The Tuesday class will end and be removed from the schedule in 2 weeks. The Friday morning class will remain on the schedule but will switch back to a Studio Cycle format in 2 weeks. Mark your calendars for April 19th! The SLC Marathon kicks off the run with a 26 mile Bike Tour on the closed course. Life Time Fitness has purchased this event and I would love to see a huge showing there. We should have someone from the event at our Spring Ride where a discount to sign up will be offered. More details to come... I want to extend a great offer to everyone from one of our Cycle Club members, Russ Hymas. He wrote a book covering the laws applicable to cyclists & motorists, as well as insurance coverages that are important to carry if you are in an accident (no matter how careful we are, we cant control the actions of inattentive drivers). The Utah Bicycle Accident Handbook addresses these and other issues, For a free copy, below is a link to the page on his firms website where you can fill out your address and e-mail to get the book sent directly to your home: utahbicyclelawyers/free-utah-bicycle-accident-handbook Thank you, Russ Hymas! Hope to see you all in class and on the roads this week!.
