I have a great deal of practice, shouldering the splintered crossbeams of people’s cares. Lay your cross down here; here in the olive grove. These ancient trees are twisted by a thousand desert winds blowing off the wastelands of people’s despair. And yet they are the stronger for it. Lay your cares down here. Only, abide with me for a while. Stay awake with me while I pray—I pray for a world that kills its little ones, while celebrating the thieves, the infamous and the unjust. I pray for you –for your aching body, for your fear of death, for your moments of unbelief. Only abide with me for a while, as I search for the courage to bring us both to a transcendent Easter Sunrise. --- Rev. Pat Kriss, March, 2013 Music this Sunday Hallelujah. Alleluia Alleluia … These are the words that you’ll hear or sing during our Sunday Easter Service. They’re joyful and exciting and need little explanation. The music – hymns, anthems, and Hallelujah Chorus – will also be upbeat and exciting. I want to thank our choir for their superb presentation of the anthems this past Sunday – especially my favorite “God So Loved the World”. This was also my Mother’s favorite who was an organist and choir director for 45 years. Your kind words made everything very special to me. Next week Doug Hartline will return with his excellent musicians for our Jazz Sunday service which usually occurs on the 3 rd Sunday of each month and will continue through May and June before going on summer break. Thinking ahead to summer, I am trying to schedule soloists for July and August. Please let me know if you have an interest or know of someone who does. Have a wonderful Easter.
