Wein Reporter from Germany quotes SAWIS (SA Wine Industry Information & Systems), reflecting the growth in South African wine exports since CapeWine 2012 was held in Cape Town less than a year ago. Exports grew by 41% in the first five months of 2013, including 21% growth in sales to Germany, to the UK by 19%, to Denmark by 40%, and to Canada by 49%. Spectacular growth is sales to Russia, up by 268%, France by 216%, Czechoslovakia by 196% and Switzerland by 194%. Interesting that Rose exports grew by 108%, white wines collectively by 41%, red wines by 5%, with sparkling wine only showing 2% growth.
