Weird thought series continues.......(No. 31) I think India is a country obsessed with statues. In last couple of years I have seen many big Lord Hanuman statues coming up at different places. I have found similar Hanuman statues abundantly present in villages/ sub urban Andhara Pradesh & south Odisha. Sushree Mayawati (Behenji) showed her obsession for statues by spending public money. Because of her credential as secular leader, she didnt built God statues, rather symbols of her liking(including self). Now with all due respect Mr. Namo constructing worlds tallest statue for an estimated cost of $340 million (Rs. 2074 crore). I like Mr. Modi the most among all present political leaders, but this spending, how far justified??? I am not against the construction of monuments or artistic pieces, but a cost benefit analysis must be done. Sardar Patel had a towering personality & the statue how tall may be will appear shorter than that, but money should be judiciously used in more priority areas.
