Weirfest Sunday Chiller 2014 unquestionably goes down as one of the best days of my life - from the 11am band practice in the sunshine outside the glass blowing shed to the 12 noon opening set with the Bad Ole Boyes (Banjo, Mandolin, 12 string acoustic, Cajon, Acoustic Guitar and me on Resonator) - including me joining the singing and also given the privilege of leading a rendition of Willie Niles great song Beautiful Wreck of the World - to then hearing my beautiful gradaughter Charli White do her wonderful set ( so proud of her and what a great job she did!). This was all then followed by a magic afternoon of diverse and fantastic music in the wonderful setting of Porlock Weir. The artists were the joyful Phil Garvey, the rocking Bills Eels, the highly entertaining Perry Wood trio ( just how many songs is the world record for a 40 minute set .. came close to seeing it this afternoon!), another young songstress talent in Nimah, the wonderful quartet of sisters with beautiful harmonies who go by the name of Small and Gold, the breathtaking Snow Apple duet of dutch girls that was simply unbelievably different and awesome including one of the girls singing a Puccini opera song ( and finishing stood on a pub table with such sonic power and clarity that tears were seen rolling down many faces), then after some community singing with the local vicar, it was left to Alex Cook to shake the very foundations of Exmoor with his mighty voice and slamming guitar playing. Just when we thought it was over it was time for one of those special moments when the master of ceremonies Jim Adlington ( also organiser, sound engineer and all round good guy) called all the musicians still around up including me for one final jam - bloody fantastic!!!!!!! I have nearly forgotten one other magical moment and that was when my other granddaughter Claudia asked to join the Morris Men - she loved it! Thanks Jim Adlington, Thanks Royston and all your crew at the Bottom Ship, Thanks Porlock Weir and thank you sunshine!!! Great day!!!!!! Tim Vinal thanks
