Weisman Childrens Post Concussion Support Group Hits One Year - TopicsExpress

Weisman Childrens Post Concussion Support Group Hits One Year Anniversary! Concussions dont always happen on the soccer field... Concussion is one of the most common injuries of children and teens. When someone sustains a concussion, it can occur without the loss of consciousness and it is not always related to a sports injury. Common falls, accidents and playful romping with friends or siblings can result in a concussion. Weisman Childrens Rehabilitation Hospital and Outpatient Centers are uniquely qualified to properly evaluate and manage concussions to prevent long-term consequences. Our services include detailed medical and neurological assessments by our Pediatric Physiatrist, a physician who is specifically trained in rehabilitation. We provide Physical, Occupational and Speech-Language Therapies. We also offer each family a customized plan of support and guidance for return to school, sports and everyday living. Weisman Children´s Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting a Post Concussion Support Group for children / teens 11-19 years of age and their families on the third Monday of every month, from 6:30 - 7:30. The purpose of this support group is to allow persons with concussions and their family members to meet others in similar situations, gain valuable emotional support, develop friendships, obtain informational resources, and hear speakers discuss a variety of brain injury topics. Our next meeting is on May 19th at 6:30pm. To RSVP and for more information about the group, please contact Andrea VanVreede by phone at 856-489-4520 ext 264 or by email at avanvreede@weismanchildrens weismanchildrens
