Wel we are halfway through our vacation in Scotland and we are having a marvelous time, the weather has been spectacular in Scotland which is rather unusual,we brought loads of warm clothes which we have not really used yet ! So far we have been to Stirling and climbed the William Wallace monument 256 steps almost straight up.We visited my home town of Motherwell and I took everyone on a tour of the house we grew up in that is now converted into offices. We stayed four days in Moffat a little village on the Borders where I went to boarding school from age 15 to 18 had a wonderful time there lots of beautiful walks. We then went to Carradale where we still are and we are staying a small but beautiful cottage built in the eighteenth century.Yesterday Bryonie and me played the local nine hole Golf course where I learned to play as a child.Sarah ,Joycelyn and my elder sister and her husband walked the course with us.Carradale used to be a bustling fishing village with 21 herring boats but it was fished out and all he fish are gone.I was concerned that the kids might be bored as there is very little to do here except go for walks and go to the pebble and also the sandy beaches but both the kids are having a wonderful time.We are here for another three days and then we go to Stirling for another couple of days and then off to London for four days and then we take the train under the English Channel for three days in Paris. The trip has been everything I hoped it would be and more.Wonderful time.
