Welborn Beesons diary entry for 150 years ago today, January 14th, 1865: Jan 14th Saturday. Marcellus and I hauled wood. we corded eight cords of fire place wood. been cool day. Dick St Clair is here to night to visit. he is on an eight day furlough. I received a letter to day from Gennette Spence, and one from Mrs Gifford they are all well. Dick is the youngest of eight children, his Father is living with his fourth wife in Guernsey Co. OH. he has two brothers that have been killed in this war. We have news in the Tribune that Peace commissioners are negotiating for peace at Washington, and Richmond Tune in again tomorrow for Welborns next entry!
