Welcome Family Member I am 1LT Carrie Haag, your Soldier’s Battery Commander for Initial Entry Training in the United States Army. Your Soldier has arrived safely here at our unit, in-processed and has begun the rigors of Basic Combat Training (BCT) as an American Soldier in class 50-13. I want you to know that the Cadre members, who will be training your Soldier, are a very dedicated group of professionals, genuinely concerned about the health, welfare, and training of each Soldier. Our foremost goal is to help each Soldier meet the standards and graduate from BCT. We consider our Soldiers to be the most important asset of the Army’s future. During this training period, your Soldier will learn the Warrior Task and Battle Drills that are required to defend our Nation against all enemies while fighting the War on Terror. The training will be very strenuous and demanding and the tasks performed will help develop the discipline and self-confidence necessary to be a successful Soldier in today’s Army. During BCT your Soldier will advance through different Phases of training (red, white, and blue). We will post updates, to include photos, throughout the cycle here. Certain privileges may be earned through performance; an example of one of these privileges would be the periodic use of cell phones following the transition to White Phase. Your Soldier will miss you a great deal if this is their first time away from home. I’m sure that you will miss your Soldier as well. I encourage you to write them as often as possible. However, care packages are not necessary as we provide them with opportunities to visit the shoppette in order to buy anything they may need. Be assured that your Soldier will be given ample time to return your correspondence. Please use the below address to send mail to you Soldier. If you don’t know which platoon they in just leave that spot blank they will still receive the mail.
