By Kent Burns on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 6:10pm Pine Ridge is not only the poorest American Indian reservation, but the poorest place in the country. This site was set up to help raise awareness and donations to help support this reservation and other reservations that are poverty stricken. Chris and Nicole Ellis are passionate about helping the Native American population. When they learned about this poverty ridden reservation in South Dakota they decided that for their wedding anniversary/ honeymoon, they would take a trip to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota to take clothes, coats school supplies, etc. They originally planned to make this trip in October of 2013, but the logistics didnt work out and they have postponed the trip. They hope to make the trip in the Spring of 2014. If you have donations, clothes, coats, shoes, blankets, school supplies, etc will be greatly appreciated (money donations are also welcome). When the site began, we were really just focusing on friends and family that lived close by, but we now have members from all over the United States. We are working on files with suggestions on where and how to donate if you are not in the North Carolina (where Chris and Nichole live) area. If you dont have anything to donate, just spreading the word will help a great deal... Thank you for your help in advanced.
