Welcome! Today: Facing the fire without fear! Passage: Daniel 3: 19, 25, 27 NIV 19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual 25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them. (emph. added) Daniel’s friends went into fire, for not worshipping the ninety foot statue that King Nebuchadnezzar built That is the height of a nine/ten story building! But the very person who threw them into fire became full of fear, seeing that these boys were un-harmed and that they came out with even no smell of fire!! The devil will put people of God in difficult circumstances But God will come to the rescue of those who take a stand for God If you go to Manhattan (New York) you can see the big bulls/cows made in metal/concrete and installed in some major locations People stand and watch these big bulls with curiosity. They take photos (We even have a famous TV show here in the US, with the word “idol” in it’s name) The world expects every one to worship the idols it has made “If you don’t worship what the majority worships, you are singled out!” So, because fear and the false promises/claims they make, many choose to worship these idols These idols include prestige, power and possessions Some big companies do anything to promote their business They don’t care how; all they want is business So sin naturally creeps in. They offer “rewards” and promotions for people who bring in business! Many children and young are after that which is “popular” They often fall into sin, going that way But there are some, who choose to be different These three young men refused to do what everybody else did! That is when people know the difference with you In today’s world as well as in those days, the popular thing was/is to “just go with the flow” and “don’t resist”! But if you know where “the flow” is going to, you may not go with the flow The way of God is not a wide one, but a narrow one Only few people choose that road Every day, we can see more and more Christians choosing the wide, easy way If we choose to follow Jesus, we should choose the way that He chose We should dare to be our self, instead of being someone else’s copy I see many people who keep quiet, when they have to speak They want to keep their “good name”! But somewhere down the lane, it gets spoiled If we speak when we have to, and keep quiet when we have to, we will do good Jesus spoke. He was and is “the word”. But He also kept quiet at certain times A right word at the right time can save you even your own life! For example, if you keep quiet when you need immediate medical attention, you may remain quiet for the rest of your life! Sometimes, a big problem could have been avoided, if you had spoken one word. But you can also get into big trouble by speaking one wrong word! If you can calm down a person who is violent, you may be saving lives! May God help you to make the right choices Blessings! BG
