Welcome from Dr. David Jeremiah: I grew up with parents who centered our familys life around the Bible. My father was a pastor, a teacher of the Word. When he went to heaven, I was given all of his sermon notes and Bibles. What an inheritance! My mother lived out Gods Word in her parenting and hospitality, and in so many other ways. As a part of my legacy, I understood that the Bible was the key to a successful life. Today, Gods Word is still a focused priority of my life. And after preaching and teaching the Bible for more than 40 years, theres still so much that I want to study in greater detail. When I graduated from seminary, somebody told me, David, youre going to fish out of this pond for the rest of your life. And they were right. After all this time, the Word is still teaching me about priorities and ministry, marriage and integrity, forgiveness and mercy, and the beauty of life with Christ. Each week I spend hours preparing to teach the Word, and I am constantly discovering new insights that guide my life. The Bible is such a timeless book that, no matter your place or time in history, it always speaks to the important issues of life. This is the only God-inspired book ever written; it is definitive and authoritative, and I have great confidence that as long as I am faithful to the text-honoring it as Gods very Word-the result will be life transformation. Despite these convictions, I struggled in my spirit about whether I should develop The Jeremiah Study Bible. I wasnt sure that my own study notes on Gods Word were worthy of such an effort. Yet after a lifetime of teaching and preaching, I concluded that perhaps the insights God has given me, and the applications that have come to my heart, could be helpful to others as they live out their Christian faith each day. The Bible has the greatest potential of all lifes influences to permanently transform lives. I am called to that work. For those who use this study Bible, my prayer is that you will fall in love with Scripture in such a way that His Word will be written in your heart. This is a Bible for those Ive come to love as a teacher-those who sit in the church I pastor and in churches around the world. I hope that it will also help those who are just now seeking God. I pray that because I have endeavored to make The Jeremiah Study Bible teachable and personal, it will find its place in your heart, encouraging you and growing you in your faith. Welcome to The Jeremiah Study Bible. -Dr. David Jeremiah #JeremiahStudyBible
