Welcome to Bagels and Baseball=Howie style- Todays topic- Defending Theos record as Red Sox General Manager-Recently i have read some negative comments about Theos tenure as Red Sox GM-Totally absurd. Besides signing David Ortiz as a free agent and trading for Curt Schilling it was his bold trade in 2004 trading away iconic Nomar Garciaparra who had developed into a cancer in the locker room was a stroke of genius and in my opinion no way the Red Sox win the World Series in 2004 with Nomar at shortstop. But by far Theos greatest contribution was that he revamped and rebuilt the Red Sox scouting system and Theo was the guy who drafted Dustin Pedroia, (A player most other teams shied away from thinking he was too short)Jacoby Ellsbury and Jonathan Papelbon. So please enough with the nonsense knocking Theo he did a great job for the Red Sox.
