Welcome to Charles and Namatayi! Charles Chipanga is the co-founder of Chalenam Rhythms which is a band that plays Zimbabwean music with a traditional African wooden percussive instrument (Marimba), from the heart of Zimbabwe. Chipanga plays the wooden percussive instrument (Marimba) fused with hosho (rattle) played by his wife Namatayi (co-founder) hence the band name Chale for Charles-Nam for Namatayi. Famed for his mastery of the Marimba, Charles boasts of the unique capability to play any instrument that is laid before him, all with equal verve and ability. He also is famed for his musicology in dance that is characterized by immense panache and dignity. The harmonious assemblage comprises of various musical components such as bass guitar, acoustic guitar, drums, keyboards and of course Zimbabwean percussion.
