Welcome to Gaias Peace Garden... We are so glad you are here... All friends of Gaia are welcome here... This is a community peace garden on protected land... We grow food, flowers, herbs (culinary and medicinal and ceremonial or sacramental)... We grow community here and allow Mother Earth her way here by not putting poisons upon her and by listening carefully to her... We use principles of Permaculture- caring for Mother Earth, caring for all of the sentient beings which includes our Mother- and allowing the abundance and community to return... Protecting the regeneration of abundance and then sharing for generations to come... This begins by protecting and caring for Gaias... There are many lessons about nature here for all ages... It is a magical and mystical journey in which I say look! We make decisions here that eliminate so many of the challenges we are now facing as a society... No waste here... No pollution... Abundance... Yes... Community... Yes... I am so grateful to the teachers and children of the preschool who have a garden within the garden... Also grateful to Backyard Abundance our local permaculture organization... Friends of Gaia or Mother Earth means those who come and tour and learn and build relationships with her and others and leave it as beauty full as when we came... We do NOT harvest herbs or flowers or produce without EXPLICIT permission... We are registered with United Plant Savers and are a Botanical Sanctuary- a safe place for the plants and rocks and crystals... And there are areas to enjoy all of them... We are also registered as a Monarch sanctuary with herbs and flowers that monarchs and many other pollinators enjoy... A win win win relationship... A growing community of people nurture and care for and protect this magical and mystical sanctuary... Events and workshops and tours are held throughout the growing season... People of all ages are welcome to gather and enjoy the energy and participate in co-creating the beauty and abundance and community of a remarkable ecosystem... A fire pit, learning areas, a small orchard and a 5 circuit labyrinth are all features an increasing number of friends and neighbors are discovering... Gaias Peace Garden is a visible manifestation of the wholeness of a New Story... The energy flowing there increases with approaching her with respect and gratitude... The creatures who visit are plentiful especially when we practice moments of quiet and stillness... It is a great place to be just to be... To read and observe and breathe... The fire pit is a circle where we have often gathered to be grateful for the many gifts there... Gifts include the fertile and living soil and clean water and air around the gift of the sacred fire... We can celebrate Mother Earth and each other here... Gaias Peace Garden... Priceless... Whole... Healing happens here... Sacred economics... No commoditization or monetization... A gift based exchange- over 300 pounds of produce went to the crisis center food pantry in Iowa City this season... Gifts of labor and monetary donations to be used for specific projects and for maintaining and increasing the beauty are welcome... Plans are in motion for a bee hive in the spring!
