Welcome to Justice For Dual Peppy! Facts on the situation: On Sept 19, 2014, 10 live horses and 17 deceased (originally reported as 8 live, 12 deceased) were found at a barn in Black Forest, CO. Several of the surviving horses were in very poor condition & found living among the carcasses of the deceased. These horses belonged to AQHA breeder Sherry Brunzell, whom leased the barn. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Dept was called to investigate & assured all that the horses were being fed, leaving the remaining horses in Ms. Brunzells care. Many of these horses were well known, performing Quarter Horses & included in the surviving was NCHA World Champion & money earner, Dual Peppy. Dual Peppy has lifetime earnings of $88,000+ & has sired multiple money earners the world over. On the following Monday, El Paso County Sheriffs office called in The Humane Society of The Pikes Peak Region and Colorado Humane Society & SPCA. It was determined, after veterinary inspection, that the horses would be seized along with 4 llamas. The horses are currently being rehabilitated at an undisclosed facility specializing in equines where they can receive the care & management needed. The llamas are currently under care with the HSPPR. All animals involved will remain in custody until court hearings can decide their future. Misdemeanor charges have been filed at this point. The public outcry after forming Justice for Dual Peppy assisted in ensuring the case was investigated fully & has reached over 1.5 million people worldwide & liked over 29,000 times (as of 9-26-14). Through calls, emails, online petitions and social media, thousands upon thousands of people made their voices heard assisting in the removal of the horses from Sherry Brunzells care on Monday, September 22nd. It is our goal to be a central location for complete & honest information regarding these animals well being. We wish to work together to form a voice for these neglected & abused animals with an open and respectful discussion of the topics.
