Welcome to The Great Escape Cruise Before the Cruise Tips 1. Register online at carnival. At the top of the website, click on Manage. Complete the Online Check-in. Read and follow all directions. Have your booking number, passport or certified birth certificate, and credit card in hand. You must have a credit card filed that will run all your on board charges with your sign and sail card. 2. Print out your Boarding Pass, Luggage Tags, and any other paperwork and bring it with you to check-in upon arrival at the cruise terminal. 3. Bring your passport or certified birth certificate and photo ID to check-in. A copy of your birth certificate is not official. It must have the raised seal. 4. Notice at check-in the To Do List, View Details, FAQ at the right, and at the bottom New to Cruise, Preparations, and Activities/Excursions. 5. You must check in between 12:30pm and 2:30 Saturday afternoon, with a 4pm departure. You must be boarded 1 ½ hours before ship sails. 6. Suitcases are limited to two (2) per person, 50 lbs or less and not to exceed 16” H x 24”W. Your luggage will be placed at your cabin door. You may wish to bring essentials aboard in a carry-on. 7. Refer to your boarding pass for instructions on what to do after you arrive at the pier. There is a lot of good information at your manage my cruise. Check-in, directions to the port of Galveston, parking, etc. 8. You may take a personal cooler no more than 12”x2”x12” or a 12 pack of sodas on board. Once onboard, you can purchase an Unlimited Soda Program. 9. Hair dryers are in your cabin. You will be able to plug in curling irons, etc. 10. Irons are provided on each deck but not in your cabin. You may not bring an iron. Spray-on wrinkle releaser works really well. 11. The onboard Medical Center will have motion sickness medicine available, but any other preventative measures must be taken ahead of time. If you are prone to motion sickness the prescription patches are great investments. 12. Check your own cell phone service to know what coverage options you have. Telephone communication ship-to-shore network offers direct dialing via satellite from the stateroom telephone. This is available 24 hours a day regardless of the ship’s location. The rate is $1.99 per minute and charges are billed to the guest’s on board Sail and Sign Card. Information and instructions can be found in the Ship’s Directory in the stateroom. 13. Go to carnival to familiarize yourself w/the ship, ports of call & available excursions. 14. A very inexpensive excursion in Cozumel is Paradise Beach. Pack clothes that are easily layered. Some areas of the ship are kept rather cool, plus you never know what the weather will be like. Comfortable walking shoes for port excursions and close toed shoes in the event of rain is a good idea. One evening is designated “Cruise Elegant” dining and is dressy casual to dressy. There will be extensive photo options that evening. 16. Be sure to take your passport and ID with you on your shore excursions. During the Cruise Tips 1. There is a welcome aboard buffet, so the earlier you arrive the sooner you can start buffeting! 2. 24-hour complimentary room-service is available, including breakfast-in-bed which must be filled out and hung outside your cabin door the night before. Bring an adequate amount of singles for tips if you plan on using this service. 3. Spa specials are sometimes offered when you first come aboard and/or while in port. 4. “Carnival Capers” will be delivered to your cabin each evening and have a lot of great information about the following day’s activity great for planning your day. 5. Wi-Fi as well as internet café services are available on board (but they are rather pricey). 6. Laundry services are available on board. 7. On-board art auctions are a lot of fun. 8. Karaoke, especially with a group of friends, is also a blast (even if you don’t sing). 9. You can do as much or as little as you want on a cruise, so cruise at your own pace! 10. Great Escape has early dining (6:00pm) with designated open seating tables. We will find out which dining room aboard the ship. The maître d’ will help you find the area.
