Welcome to #TittyMasterMatt’s review of the Royal Rumble 2015. Its a read so stay with me! First of all let’s start with the big disappointment and get the big negative out of the way. The Royal Rumble: Firstly I’d just like to say the return surprises of Bubba Ray, Boogeyman and DDP were fantastic. So were the performances of Bray Wyatt and Rusev who in my mind were the only guys out there who looked like a legitimate threat. There were far too many jobbers, as each babyface sent out did minimal to impress the crowd as it was clear the only one to make a huge impact was Reigns. Ambrose and Ziggler who also were the other top babyfaces walking into that match didn’t even gain a reaction from the crowd. The lack of the Authority at ringside also bothered me since from a story telling POV they’ve been ringside in some form at every major match even with their own guys in it. Star power was very limited and the early eliminations of people such as Bryan and the weak elimination of Ziggler also proved this. Curtis Axel did not however get eliminated thus the match is technically still running. A clear demonstration of WWE not even following their own rules just to make one guy look exceptional (at which they failed miserably). All in all Reigns winning did not make him seem like a creditable threat to Brock Lesnar (see next section). World Title Match: The first thing I will say was that this was amazing and one of the best matches I have ever seen, if not the best. Each contender looked like a serious threat and the build up made you emotionally invested in the match. You saw countless suplexes (18 by my count) and multiple finishers from each guy except Rollins who only got one or two in (which is fine). The only problem that comes from this match is that how can you build Lesnar up to be unstoppable as he appears (see the match in which he kicked out of finishers at one etc etc) and have him face someone like Reigns who is nowhere near a credible threat to him unless you insert another man (see Wrestlemania 30). Sure we know Reigns will win the title and Rollins will cash in straight after too loud cheers, but to me the logic just isn’t there. All in all the world title match stole the show and left a very strong impression in my mind as I will be watching it again for the exact suplex count and to be amazed by it once more. Divas Tag Match: As I said in a post, this match was pure eye candy. Special shout out to Paige, Natalya, Brie and Nikki for making it very enjoyable to watch. From a wrestling standpoint it was a very solid divas match and I feel as if all four wrestlers put in a decent effort in making this work. I feel as if this should have been a fatal four way for the title, but as it was the match was good in my mind. Old School vs New School: The Ascension showed up tonight displaying one of their best matches yet, including their NXT days. The Outlaws worked hard to put the Ascension over, however I feel as if the team unison of the Ascension was lessened slightly from the match. But still both teams worked well and the match had a good flow to it. Tag Team Title Match: Finishing off this review (not counting the pre show match) I thought this match to be rather lackluster. Not only did Mizdow get very little ring time, but the Usos also kicked out of several legitimate finishers. This not only bothers me as mid card matches shouldn’t feature this, but the fact that Mizdow also didn’t turn or develop more after this match made me upset. Still a good match, but I think the story should have evolved more here if they didn’t win the titles. All in all a good show that had me loving it up until the latter half of the Rumble match. Looking forward to NXT Takeover on February 11! Rumble: D+ World Title: A+ Diva’s: B Tag Title: C Old School vs New School: B- #TittyMasterMatt
