Welcome to a Wild Weekend! Mums & Dads As I reflect on the coming Conference this week with our long time dear friend and spiritual mum, Bernita Conway it got me thinking about those who have truly touched my life. With gratitude that I could never communicate on this media, I think of Archbishop Victor Onuigbo from Nigeria who used to come to the various incarnations of my brother, Martins church over many, MANY years. The miracle services the powerful prophetic ministry. A man who himself was raised from death and who fathered well over 330 churches and thousands of other pastors. I remember the prophetic word he declared over me in his church office, Enugu, Nigeria, that there would come a time when everything would Spring forth in my life, which, despite the lack of faith in myself, I knew would be a ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit! THAT TIME HAS COME. What amazes me is Victor came to visit year after year (at his own expense) a little church in Neilston, which then moved to Barrhead. I remember powerful meeting in the OLD Scout Hall, Neilston, a rather grubby wee place at the time. I remember bumping into a wee lady years later who mentioned in passing, how God had healed her of cancer through this wonderful man of God. (Miracles are made out of relationships, but thats another story) Why did Victor bother? Why come there? Because he saw something in my brother. He saw something in all of us that we couldnt see OUR POTENTIAL, OUR PROMISE. He knew a secret that we didnt fully understand at the time: Jesus chooses the foolish things to confound the wise, he calls fishermen, tax collectors, doubters and dafties. Those who though they dream of amazing things, cant believe they could ever achieve it. People like me. Perhaps someone like you? From 1993 a move of the Holy Spirit swept through our church (and a cross the world) and the church grew, and many conferences were held in a new, bigger location. A friend called Flow Ellers brought her friend, Bernita Conway, which unknown to us was to become a LIFE LONG relationship. Bernita came again and again, one year coming 8-10 times that year! Simply because she could see something perhaps that we couldnt see. Yes, the phenomenal move of Holy Spirit, but she saw something in US! If you are a Mum or Dad you know one thing for sure: even if your kids frustrate the life out you, you LOVE them, you BELIEVE in them, you KNOW that they can choose to do anything they want in their lives, even though they think they cant. The kids see their inability, we see their ability. They see the people that dont like them or question who they are. We see what Amazing things they have to offer this world, what amazing Potential they have. They can be world changers if they want to - its up to them, well be there if things go wrong and help them find a safe path...right? So, (I know this is a long one, hang in there) I think about my own Mum and Dad. Always supporting my brother, sister and myself whatever we have gone through...the good, the bad, the horrendous. Always giving, yep ALWAYS GIVING, always believing. Despite the challenges they can see something we cant...true for me, true for my sis, true for my brother. I dont know what your Mum or Dad are or were like, or even if you knew them well. I dont know if you were fortunate to have a good relationship or a distant or difficult one... I just have one question: Do you have a spiritual Mum or a spiritual Dad? Have you flown the coop and left the church (or never found it) and you dont have someone who SEES SOMETHING you dont, who BELIEVES something promising about you? ITS TIME TO COME HOME PEOPLE No church isnt perfect, it is like family, full of fishermen, tax collectors doubters and dafties. BUT, it is also full of BELIEVERS...People who will believe IN YOU, when you cant. Why not join us this Sunday at Spirit of Life Church and find a group of people who will believe in you, more than you do yourself...we all need it, we were designed for each other!
