Welcome to my psychedelic garden! This garden will be a motley assortment of colors, shapes, sizes as the veggie seeds were planted by a motley assortment of St. Camillus and neighborhood kids! What I thought would be an all day effort to create a very organized garden (by me, a totally inexperienced gardener) turned into an exciting 1-hour dash to plant all (and I mean ALL) the veggie seeds I have been collecting. The kids clustered around me offering all their help as soon as I came out with shovel & rake in hand. The 10-12 year old kids took charge of preparing the beds while the little ones clamored for seeds to plant. I do recall asking the kids to plant the tomatoes in one section - but after that I could not keep track and seeds were going in here, there, and everywhere. We had a great time! They are such wonderful kids - so helpful and thoughtful (even cleaning up the tools afterward). I had to reward them with home baked chocolate cookies and then… as I was sprinkling the new garden from the watering can… I couldnt help but giving them a good soaking as well!
