Welcome to our Belief System We have some new folks on our wall. Welcome to our belief system. If you want to keep up with what we post, youll need to not only like our page but choose to get notifications in your news feed. Or you can just stop by every now and then to see what were talking about. We are here as a tool to reach more people but our primary source of information is our web site. nokillhuntsville/ No Kill Huntsville is a coalition of local rescuers and advocates. We are you. Some of our members have decades in animal welfare and sheltering. We come from a host of industries and occupations. We are networked with like minded people across the country, some of whom are on the forefront of what we consider our social movement. We joined forces in January of 2012 to speak with one voice and say the continued destruction of healthy and treatable animals in our municipal shelter must stop. There is just no polite way for us to say too many animals are killed in our shelter. Instead we say, we can do better. We cannot avoid taking a look at our current situation and our recent history. We do so to understand where we are so we can improve. Some would make our efforts out to be something they are not. We are not focused on blame, fault or guilt. Those concepts do not help us or help animals. We are focused on hope, ideas and possibilities. Dealing with the lives of animals can be an inherently emotional subject. But in the end, we are not about personalities or individuals; we are about results. Period. There are more than 500 cities in our country where the lives of more than 90% of shelter animals are saved. We want that here. We know we can embrace those proven programs if we make this about results and not about individual people or personalities. We have to make this about leadership and accountability. We owe it to ourselves and to the animals we value to at least try. Please join is in learning about these programs and then consider speaking with us as we tell our local leaders that we are ready to embrace change for our future. We really can do this in a positive and empowering way as we make our community stronger. And it is our position that we must do this with a sense of urgency. There are lives at risk.
