Welcome to your Wednesday, Facebook! Already were over the hump - TopicsExpress

Welcome to your Wednesday, Facebook! Already were over the hump of the work week, which is a frighteningly fast feature in my life. Were also halfway through the month of August. By ancient Roman tradition, we would still be in the Dog Days of Summer, however, the Old Farmers Almanac considers these 40 days beginning as early as July 3rd and August 18th at the latest--consider it a sliding scale. Typically, these lazy as a dog days are the sultry, simmering days of Summer, which we really did not have this year (at least here in the Heartland.) I believe were finally hitting these very days now. Hot, windless days littered with beautifully developed vertical cumulus clouds, colored bright-white or butter-yellow: my favorite choices of popcorn. As a result, these anvil-headed behemoths loitered around central Ohio long enough drum a storm last night, and presumably to do it again today. Well, if it doesnt rain again tonight, I with neither be disappointed nor relieved as I will most likely sleep through it again. Todays song of the Day is from 1993 and from a group who played at Woodstock 94 (also known as Mudstock). Blind Melon, an alternative hippie band from Los Angeles, with members from Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Indiana, were one of the acts performing at this re-creation of two more days of peace and music. Blind Melon was a flash in the pan band--a one-hit wonder--due to the earthly departure of lead singer, Shannon Hoon. Its hard to say if Blind Melon and Bee Girl would have enjoyed further success had Hoon the Hoosier had caught a ride on the Cocaine Express. However, they did leave a musical mark, if but with one song, No Rain. As far alternative tracks go, No Rain is one of signature songs of the 90s, right up there with Nirvanas Smells Like Teen Spirit. Or does it smell like rain? It looks like rain, hold the popcorn. Enjoy your Wednesday, rain or shine. youtu.be/3qVPNONdF58
