Welfare reforms….is the kaupapa for the morning….. Labour Party Any of us could end up needing the support of our social welfare system. Acute illness, disability or redundancy could strike at any time. If it did, Labour will ensure that support is there while you get back on your feet again. Labour believes New Zealand should be a place where everyone is included and has opportunities to get ahead: to build their capabilities, make their own contribution, and have a stake in society. Labour has a positive plan to ensure that Kiwis have the opportunity for a well-paid job, a decent home they can afford, and fair prices on basics. Māori Party We continue to think that looking out for the welfare of those who need extra support should take a more positive line, by empowering people to move into work through increased support in early childhood education, flexible work arrangements, and training allowances, rather than a punitive line as the welfare reforms have. Green Party The Green Party opposed National’s welfare reforms because they increased the hardship faced by families, forced beneficiaries to compete for jobs that don’t actually exist, and increase risk of child neglect. The Greens will ensure our welfare system provides for all New Zealanders to have a standard of living that enables them to participate in, and feel part of, their local community and have sufficient income for their personal and whānau/familys well-being. Internet Mana See MANA policies (which are fully supported by the Internet Party). NZ First New Zealand First believes that welfare should be available in time of real need! National Getting off welfare and into work means a better life and a brighter future for New Zealanders and their families. With 1,600 people going off welfare and into work every week, our plan is getting real results. National will continue to provide the support that people need to become independent.
