Well, 35 years ago today I was excited for my Mom and Dad to stop by and visit. I was very pregnant and very over due and waddled everywhere! Seeing them was the highlight of my day. They always brought such joy into our home. David was in for his nap and I decided to take a bubble bath after they left. As soon as the ole bubbles started bubblin, I went into hard labor. In those days, we didnt have cell phones so I had to wait until they got home and ask them to turn around and come right back! We lived on Pickle Hill so that was a bit of a drive from Middlebury Center! Rob was working at the Corning Super Duper so he wasnt going to make it in time either!! I remember putting on something that looked like a Moo Moo....remember those, girls from the 60s and 70s?? Well, even a Moo Moo felt tight and boy was I in labor. As little David and I sat on the couch waiting for Mom and Dad to come back and drive us to the hospital, I remember just crying the whole way. The pains were excruciating. Honestly, I did not care if I delivered this baby right in the car...that is how bad they were. But, God was merciful and a few hours later was one of the happiest days of our lives! Little, brown-eyed Daniel Chris Fitzgerald was born. I cant imagine our lives without him. He has taken us through journeys that have taught us the real meaning of love, commitment and faith. We love you, Dan! We want to be the first to wish you a very Happy Birthday! We are so proud of the man you have become! Cant wait to celebrate with you and Meghan tomorrow.
