Well, Anno Domini 2015 is almost here! Though I have little in - TopicsExpress

Well, Anno Domini 2015 is almost here! Though I have little in common philosophically with Ralph Waldo Emerson, he did make an interesting observation once. He said, We are always getting ready to live, but never living. Sad statement. I hope that has not been true of us in 2014 nor should it be in 2015! A modern-day author and motivational speaker Brendon Burchard says that when life is drawing to a close, well ask, Did I really live? Did I really love? Did I really matter to anyone? We should be asking those questions NOW! Especially those of us who know Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour and Lord. Hope youre in the habit of making resolutions at New Years! You may say, Well, I never keep them all. Okay, heres a scenario (humor me!). You ponder the different areas of your life -- spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, social, financial, etc., and you come up with a dozen resolutions. You set out to accomplish all twelve, but by the end of the year, youve only accomplished 8...or maybe 6...or maybe 4...or maybe even only 1. But let me suggest another scenario. You ponder the different areas of your life mentioned above. But, you know youve failed attaining goals in the past. You feel overwhelmed. You feel a failure. You say whats the use! So, you set ZERO resolutions. Guess what? By the end of the year, you will have accomplished 100% of ZERO!!! But if you had been true to the first scenario, you would have accomplished maybe 66% (8 of 12), 50% (6 of 12), 33% (4 of 12), or 8% (1 of 12) resolutions! NOW, YOU TELL ME -- Would you rather accomplish 100% of NOTHING, or 33% of 12? So, please, let me encourage you to take paper and pen (remember those?), or whatever little electro-gadget you have, :), jot down some goals for the different areas of your life, and determine to come out on the flip side of 2015 a better you! No, Im not promoting a Joel Osteen your best life now narcissistic philosophy. Light years from it! But, there are three things God wants you to know for a fulfilling, abundant life: (1) salvation from sin through acceptance of the shed blood and resurrection of His Son on your behalf; (2) His will and direction for your life revealed through the prayerful, considered study of His Word; and (3) reliance on Him for wisdom and power to live and accomplish things in your life for His glory and the benefit of others, so that when you peer back through the twilight shadows of lifes exit way, you can say Yes, I really lived! Yes, I really loved! And, yes, I really mattered for God and for others! GOD BLESS AND PROSPER EACH OF YOU, MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS, IN 2015! :)
