Well, Big Cottonwood didnt go quite as planned. It was definitely a learning experience. I was on pace for a 2:55 marathon but I hit the wall way bad at mile 19. I also spent around 5 minutes or so throwing up all the liquids and gels I had taken the whole race at mile 23. I also think I went beyond dehydration and was pushing heat stroke because I stopped sweating at mile 22 and couldnt keep any liquids down. Finished with a 3:24 (again). On the positive side, I figured out what works as far as blister prevention for my feet! I cant complain though; two months ago if you told me I would be racing over 45 miles during back to back to back weeks I would tell you you were crazy. I knew going into today I didnt have the mileage base I needed. In the end, I am just grateful that I can finally run again daily and not have any pain like I was two months ago. Thank you to Jenny, Jacob & Natalie for supporting me and making the early morning drive to my race and for Scott Hanson pulling me along the first half of the race. Up next: St. George Marathon, October 4th (hopefully!)
