Well Facebook world... today was a big step in a life changing step that Ive wanted for a long time. Today I went to the initial appointment to start my bariatric journey. My insurance covers the surgery. There is a 6 month process which Consists of psych evals and emotional counseling, dietician appts, pre op consults, pre op boot camp and a pre op diet. To follow is a 2 full years of post op consults. My entire lifestyle and anything Im used to will be changing and life will be a constant diet so to speak. The place of the surgery is one of the best in the US. The surgeons themselves spoke to all of us about the benefits as well the risks. This will in no way be easy but this is something I want and feel I need to do to make myself healthy. Im not super huge or anything like that but Ive done the diets, taken the pills, joined gyms and point is Ive been bigger all my life. My getting pregnant found my thyroid issue, since then Im now on another medication for another issue and have had another condition since I was 18. While the surgery doesnt guarantee a fix to these issues they can help. I need to be healthier and have a healthier lifestyle that Im raising my son in. Some people wont agree with this choice but thats ok. The people that will are are the important ones. I felt Id share this because I feel all to often that weight issues are something to be ashamed of and Im not. So heres to the next 6 months toward my beginning of the new lifestyle and the end to the unhealthy me.
