Well, I FINALLY somehow managed to get in a FEW HOURS of consecutive sleep last night. Thankful for it... Gonna need it. Another BUSY day ahead, but Im thankful for it, AND humbly thankful for the abilities to Git-R-Done! To me, Christmas is about many things, but MOSTLY, its about being thankful once again for the blessings weve been so graciously anointed with. I once again count my blessings. My list of things to be thankful for seems to grow every year. I try to be aware of them all the time, but for some reason, my awareness is greatly enhanced/heightened during the holidays. During my 30+ year career in EMS, I had the opportunity to see FIRST HAND (and work with) many people who didnt even have a pot to pee in. MANY of these didnt even have a cardboard box to live in to protect them from the elements. Neither did a substantial number of them know where their next meal was coming from. They had NO family to be with over/during the holidays. The clothing of many was dirty, tattered and torn. MOST hadnt had a warm shower in weeks. Most would be utterly THRILLED to get even a cheeseburger kids meal from McDonalds or even get a simple smile from a stranger. My mind is with and my heart goes out to those who have FAR LESS than I do. The past year and a half (almost) has been a TRUE eye-opener for me. The development of some new-onset medical issues has made me even more thankful for the abilities I have that remain. I take basically nothing for granted any more. I see LOTS and LOTS of things as utter BLESSINGS that I previously took for granted. In this, Ive learned to seek/strive for the positive things in even the most destitute situations. MANY times, doing the things I used to do daily without much of a thought has transformed into things that make me feel blessed to the point of feeling ANOINTED. This Christmas season, although I dont have a huge family to come together and celebrate with, Im extremely thankful that I DO have what I have. Im thankful I DO have a small biological family that remains, and I also have a HUGE family of friends that Ive been and continue to be blessed with. Im sincerely thankful for each and every one of you. I cant (and dont WANT to) imagine life without you. I dont live in a multi-million dollar mansion on a huge recreational lake, with a boat house that contains a speed boat, pontoon boat and multiple jet-skis, and a garage with a different colored Ferrari or Lamborghini to drive each day of the week. I dont have vacation homes at the beach and in the mountains. I dont have a 7-digit portfolio. I lack the financial resources to travel the world on a whim..... But I DO HAVE many things that money cant buy. My list is lengthy... and it seems to grow almost daily. This Christmas, Id like each of you to know You are loved and appreciated. Ive been blessed with so many friends I cant count them all, so its basically impossible to send a personal Merry Christmas! wish to each and every one of you. Just know that you are ALL valued and appreciated and I wish for you and your families a very happy and joyous Christmas!!!! Amidst all the Santa, gifts, food and festivities, lets be mindful and HEARTFUL of what the true meaning of Christmas is about, and give humble thanks to God for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ and for His life and what it means in our lives, for without this divine gift, there would be NO Christmas at all!! MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone!!!!!
