Well...I am pretty amazed...my solar oven....into which I placed a pot of beans actually par cooked them....I didnt put them out until later this afternoon....so I know it takes all day to fully accomplish this.....but after the angle of the sun declined I brought then in and put them on the stove! It wont take long to finish!. You can also pasteurize water using the solar oven...in a pinch it can come in handy...Id recommend it to backpackers...super lightweight and it kills bacteria and organisms in water...rendering it safe to drink.....okay it does not remove metals, heavy or otherwise....but we are talking about remote backpacking and (hopefully) unpolluted streams. I would have loved to have had this on a a week long high Sierra back pack trip up to above 12,000 ft....years ago!
