Well I did something that may be about my best judgment. I just paid to boost a post as a test. Facebook pretty well has most page owners in a corner right now. The problem is that the rates are outrageous for certain types of businesses. It really depends on what you are selling and we arent selling anything. LOL I make a little money from ads on the page. Anyway $25 wont kill me as a test but more than likely, even if they accept my post which they havent yet, that $25 will turn into $2 or $3 in revenue. They made changes to their algorithms in December. Today our average post is being seen by less than 1% of people who have liked this page. Its tough to figure out what to do with that. In December we got lucky because we had a post go majorly viral but January has not been as kind. A lot of this comes from me putting too many eggs in one basket but our traffic numbers have gone down 40% and that is largely because we cant get our posts seen on Facebook anymore. Facebook, at one time was responsible for over 60% of our site traffic. The playing field has changed and I have to figure out how to get the word out in different ways. I might do a little testing over the next week or so and I will let people know if I have positive results because I know there are others who are trying to figure out if boosting posts will work. My first concern is if they will even accept the post I submitted. A lot of our articles are controversial and this one is not an exception. Its a second amendment article.
