Well, I feel like I need to explain what exactly has been happening in my life. here it is middle of the night, cant sleep. Its certainly been a whirlwind of a week this past 7 days or so, i lost track. I had my biopsy done and a few days passed before I got the call with the results. I was alone so when I said, what seemed calm goodbye, I sobbed. Finally got my voice back to call to tell Ken results. he has a motto; dont borrow trouble until you have it. All I could manage to mouth over the phone was " we have trouble". He knew what i was referring to and was here asap. He agreed, we have trouble but we will deal with it together. The results over the phone were: you have malignant, invasive breast cancer. you will be set up with a surgeon for the mastectomy and an oncology visit following that visit to make a plan for radiation and chemotherapy.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES I was shocked and alone and didnt dare call my family in NC or kids to scare them. when I called ken, he was truthful and calm. and here within an hour. The center I was at was thru Vanderbilt and a good one, but the OBGYN that I work for who happend to be on vacation had a different opinion. I txt him and his wife and they immediately called the surgeon they most trust and got me in ASAP. Ken and i went to our first breast cancer consult today with that Dr. Dr. Mark Cooper, Nashville. He reviewed my ultrasounds and mammos as well as an exam. He recommended an immediate MRI to see what lymph nodes, if any, are cancerous. If more then 4, we would need some chemo. He reassured me that he doubted it after reviewing media and doing an exam that there were not lymph nodes involved but we dont know until MRI. He said by fri or mon we would know from MRI and take it from there. His plan is to do a lupectomy, and radiation. said he believes from all info, no mastectomy is necessary. HE is very positve and has done thousands of these. thats his profession. we left there feeling a strange wt lifted but totally exhausted from so much trama. So, for now, yes I have invasive breast carcinoma BUT he will do MRI then, accordingly, lumpectomy. probably by 10 days it will be done and radiation or... will start. thats my story.
