Well, I felt worse when I stepped off of a plane and found that - TopicsExpress

Well, I felt worse when I stepped off of a plane and found that George Bush DUBYa was going to be the president.... so this is not a disaster. We all belong to the country and we can push for excellence or sink in peril fighting , fighting. I am too old to be gracious about my disappointments in education in the last couple of years , like someone took the bus and ran away with it. I am too experienced to say that there is no place for testing, but it should not be the whole ball of wax .. and hey what about the kids who already have tested above grade level? We have a flaw. We keep saying that education is anyplace, anytime, anywhere and perhaps it could be if... if... We had infrastructure that is ubiquitous.. and access available and support for teachers who are to use the tools of technology. As a minority, I get pushed aside by the fear of those , many of those in my communities of hope who want traditional because that is what they know. How do we change that? How do we empower the teachers standing in harms way? I learned a lot of cool things at Autodesk which I was able to share in Russia -3d Modeling, but here we rarely see poor, distant and rural doing it. When I approach teachers with it and the knowledge that it is free they go into the glazed testing mantra; I do understand . I was single and could always leave one teaching job for another for a little while. Perhaps family economics wasnt a problem for me. I cant believe schools are not doing this cool stuff.
