Well I figured I should update everyone as why our prince charming came early! Tuesday night they hooked me up to do my daily monitoring of baby boys heart rate. He had a few decelerations of his heart rate right away when we started. He was dropping down to about 110bpm. So the nurses had me switch positions and see if that helped. as the night progressed he was decelerating on a regular basis. To the point where is was decelerating to 100bmp every 4 minutes. The doctor came in and started mommy on fluids and said we will give him 30 minutes to even out or we are going to delivery. well an hour went by and all of a sudden there are 4 nurses in mommys room trying to find babys heart rate. Baby boy had dropped down to 90bpm and had been there and was coming back up to normal. So they whisked mommy to the OR to deliver. Mommy barely had time to process what was going on. Next thing she knew she heard her little prince charming screaming up a storm and whisked to be assessed. The doctor informed mommy that not only was the placenta not functioning well babys umbilical cord was shorter than normal and it was wrapped around his neck! So we would have started having problems with his heart rate as we got bigger as he was already head down and seemed pretty happy to be there. baby boy was breathing on his own when they NICU took over. When Mommy and daddy got to see him in the late afternoon. Baby boy was only on a cpap machine and was still breathing on his own. He has been doing wonderful since then.
