Well I finally finished up my DIY kayak trailer conversion. Let me start by saying my whole goal of this was to buy a trailer and do the conversion with basic tools almost anyone has access to. The only power tool I used was a drill and a electric sander. The trailer I got for $100. The metal I used is galvanized chain link fence pipe. I used 3/4 inch galvanized water pipe for reinforcement in the areas of possible issue. All the metal and other material was about $120. Lights were $30. So all in all I have about $250 invested. I spent approximately 12 hours in the build. This Frame is pretty stout I pulled myself up on the frame and Im about 270 so Im extremely confident the frame can support a couple kayaks. I set it up so you could put 2 boats on top and one down below so I could haul 3 kayaks easily. If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.
