Well, I got a response from Conaway referring to the email I sent - TopicsExpress

Well, I got a response from Conaway referring to the email I sent him regarding minimum wage increase , first I will post the reply that I sent back to him with a rebuttal to his arguments, then below that will copy and paste his response to my first email. BTW, I have decided that if he does not respond to my rebuttal then I will just keep emailing him every week until he does respond or blocks me . I am also going to resend the email I send regarding healthcare to him and to my republican Senators over and over again every week. , Dear Congressman Conaway, It is quite possible to enact a minimum wage increase and exempt low profit margin small business as well as add an exclusion for teenagers and temporary exclusion for trainees like some other states have done . As far as small business , I am a small business owner and the increase in sales from increased consumption will offset the increase in wages for small businesses that have a large sales volume, some might have to raise prices by only a few cents to offset it. We need the increased consumerism to generate job growth, it would also reduce the number of working people who have to rely on assistance. Most of the American people are tired of subsidizing wage for high profit margin small business. You want to demand that people be independent yet refuse to consider increasing wages which would enable them to be independent. That just does not make sense to me. I researched and cross referenced inflation and minimum wage increases since the very first minimum wage increase and prices did not increase anymore the years minimum wage was increased than the years it was not increased, and after 3 of the largest minimum wage increases prices actually decreased slightly . There is also conflicting data on the claims of job loss in the states that have increased minimum wages they have experienced job growth not job loss. Thank you, Barry Sensa Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding the federal minimum wage. I appreciate the opportunity to respond. Small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and employ a large percentage of our workforce. This legislation, if enacted without offsetting at least some of the costs to small business, will endanger the jobs of low-income workers and greatly slow the pace of our economy. I understand this is an emotional issue for many and why it is supported, but I do not believe that a blanket increase is in the best interest of low wage earners. The federal governments involvement in controlling wages goes against free-market principles and puts this nation at a disadvantage in the globalized economy. A blanket increase is an unfunded mandate on all businesses and may end up hurting the very people it is intended to help. The backbone of this growth is small business. Small businesses in particular work on very small profit margins, and a mandatory increase in the federal minimum wage may force small businesses to employ fewer people. By some accounts, raising the minimum wage as a stand alone measure could result in the loss of up to 1.6 million minimum wage jobs (20% of this workforce). This hurts small business owners as well as the labor force. It is also important to consider that each state has the authority to enforce its own minimum wage laws. Only legislation that is fair to both workers and entrepreneurs will sustain our economic growth and ensure our nation remains the strongest economy among all industrialized nations. We should not allow stand alone minimum wage legislation to be enacted. Again, thank you for contacting me; this is not a decision I have taken lightly, and I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue.
