Well, I guess I am just very strange, but I want the old Avocado kitchen appliances back. Or the Harvest Gold. I love both those colors, and I dont give a fig how dated they are. I have always loved the colors green and gold, dont foresee myself falling out of love with them, and therefore believe I would be extremely happy with them in my kitchen to the end of my days. I also love rust and copper. Right now I have a hodgepodge in the kitchen - rusty, ugly, un-matching appliances that came with This Old House, a 1925 two-story cottage thats just quirky enough to tickle my fancy. You can order custom-colored appliances from companies like Big Chill, but they are ultra-spendy, and I dont need a $4K refrigerator. (The colors really are fun to look at though!) I dont care for stainless, and I dont like white. So I am stuck with biscuit/almond or black. Jenn-Aire makes copper appliances, but they are $$$$ too, and Id rather spend that money updating these ancient bathrooms, glassing in the porch, building a deck, and having the yard landscaped with all sorts of gorgeousnesses, including a Money Tree that will finance all these home improvements. My neighbor, Pam (who took me to see the awesome 1772 house) is going to help me destroy my kitchen and put it back together again. Whenever I tell her about any sort of bizarre thing I want to do, she smiles and gets this blinding blue twinkle in her eyes. She has he best eye twinkle! I might go make horse cookies with her today.
