Well I have to say that having watched 100 Year Old Drivers, I - TopicsExpress

Well I have to say that having watched 100 Year Old Drivers, I enjoyed it. What shone through above all else was the character of the drivers, but I guess you need a strong character to live that long anyway. There were a few insights into social isolation of old age, and of course I have reservations about the editing. Im inclined to wonder about the wisdom of taking out an elderly driver in a completely different type of car than they are used to. There was little reference to the eyesight or health problems that some of these people may have had. I am a bit disappointed that some people have used the programme as an excuse to scoff at the instructor and/or the franchise company, but I suppose that is to be expected. (unless we just delete them of course) Ideally I would like to have seen the real problems associated with older drivers today explored a bit more, rather than the nostalgic flashbacks. I think the current system which relies so much on self-declaration of health problems is not adequate for todays traffic
