Well I just had a little 4th of July excitement!! Was sitting here about 8pm my time when the smoke detector went off. 1st of all it scared the hell out of me. 2nd I couldnt see, smell, feel, sense-nothing...no smoke and i hobbled around the house and NOTHING...but in case i was missing something i called 911 and they sent the fire dept over...i of course looked my very best for those gorgeous guys to come into my house-NOT! anyway, they got the alarm to stop...mine is electric, so they unplugged it but I dont know how to do that!!! Then they told me that particular smoke detector has a life of 7-10 years....rofl...this one is 38 yrs old!!!! so they left mine unplugged and installed a battery operated one and wished me a good evening and left!!! Kudos to my local fire house and the men and women who work there. They couldnt have been nicer or more courteous. And gooooood looking!!! Anyway, God Bless the Arlington Fire Dept. for their hard work and caring about the residents in our city!
