Well, I just stepped outside to run up to Kroger. To see if I could find anything I felt like eating. When I walked out the door and felt the balmy warm air and saw the shiny, wet street under the street light. It totally took me back to the night I wrote this song. Which was on the exact same type of night in January, 20 years ago. This song came into creation one night in January of 1995, when I was walking my dog. A girl I have been hanging out with pretty regularly, who was a bathing suit model at the time. Had to go to Florida for a bathing suit trade show convention I guess it was. As I was walking my dog, I realized how much I was missing her. I had sworn off love, before she came along and was convinced it was just a light, fun thing we were enjoying together. Then that voice inside of me started taunting me. Dude, youre in love! My intellectual response, No fricking way! You have no clue what you are talking about! Its just a really nice chill thing we are enjoying. Voice inside, Nah, you are in love. Give up on your denial. You know it and I know it. I told him to shut up. Then after a while on the walk the dog trip. I asked that inner voice, Okay, Im listening. What makes you think Im in love? To which the voice responded, Because, you cant stand living without her this week. To which I responded, You have to do better than that. Then the voice said, Fine. Ill let you walk another couple blocks and chew on it for a while. About four blocks down the road, I stopped and said out loud, Shit! Im in love!! To which the voice inside responded, DUH!! When I got back home. I grabbed my guitar, sat down on the couch and wrote this song. Its the lead song on my CD, Two Hands Are Enough. youtu.be/VDf2i9JHhoE
