Well I thought last nights gathering went pretty darn well! Apparently there was more people in the pub last night than at the New Year!! So we also managed to support a local business and helped the local economy! ;) I have some concerns though, a couple of people now think the way forward is having a “COMMITTEE” can I remind those people, that a “COMMITTEE” is usually made up of elected persons. By the time we organised a vote, and had the squabbles that would go with that there would be a dozen house on the plot!!! It would also result in a hierarchy and that would cause a divide and lose support! So NOT A GOOD IDEA!!! What we need, as mentioned by Stuart and Denise is a STEER GROUP, which SHOULD be made up of people who fairly represent the entire community, regardless of qualifications, job title, how much your house is worth!! At the end of the day, if and when the planning application go in and its time to object, Northumberland County Council Planning Committee are not going give a dam, if you’re an expert planning officer etc.. In fact it would most probably get their backs up!! Never try to tell the powers that be that you know better them! The council employ their own planning officers!! No matter who you are, your objection will an objection from a member of the public! Can I ask Kate what field of law she practices? Because unless her background is in a relevant field of law she will be as qualified to give legal advice on this matter as the postman! NOT a dig at you Kate just feel that if we ended up having to go to an appeal the community could ask you to represent us in a legal capacity, so best to get it out in the open now! REMEMBER NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE!! NO ONE HAS MORE RIGHTS THAN ANYONE ELSE!! DO NOT LET ANYONE HAVE YOU THINK YOUR VOICE IS NOT WORTHY OF BEING HEARD!! YOU DO NOT NEED ANY QUALIFICATIONS TO OBJECT!! Any way rant over!! Thank you to everyone who showed their support! If nothing else last night proved what an amazing and diverse community we live in! It was fab meeting so many lovely people x
