Well, I took Summer swallow back to the farm this morning. Id - TopicsExpress

Well, I took Summer swallow back to the farm this morning. Id already had him outside in my garden showing him the sky and telling him it was time to go. Pffft! No go! So off we went. At the farm he flew! There was one solitary swallow swooping around but it disappeared. So Summer flew to the barn roof....and called plaintively to me. We got a ladder! Just as the the chap David got to the top, Summer flew off into a tree. He sat up there a while chirping until he took off again onto Davids porch. Brian came along and we discussed the reluctant migrant. Then Summer flew down to the ground, time to pick him up and take him home! Utter flop. So then I thought Ill have to isolate him a bit so he gets independent. Now Summer resides in the shed in the cage that housed the house martins earlier. He seems settled tonight after I took him out round the garden once more. Im still praying he takes off soon. I decided to move Twiggy into the aviary to give him more room, hes quite a big bird. His leg is mending nicely and hes using his foot normally, if carefully. Hes roosting up the top so I dont know what the gruesome twosome will make of Twiggy. No sign of Gracie nowadays. Shes moved on. Raspberry is very blackbird now with his tail flicking and warning cries. But he still likes to come for a snack even tho hes obviously foraging successfully. I see him a lot poking for worms and other niceties! He has a lovely head of dark brown feathers now. Seems strange after months of looking out for a baldy. Night night all. Ill leave you with some of todays pictures.
